Jul. 8th, 2002 07:33 pmI have what will be my first batch of Every Flavor Beans All Flavors Gumdrops setting up in the kitchen. A dash of chocolate flavor, a spritz of coffee flavor, a bit of caramel and brandy flavor, and I should have something that approximates Kahlua. It sure smells like Kahlua.
Things I have learned so far:
1. Those candy flavorings in the teeny tiny bottles go a long way. I spilled a drop of toffee flavor on my hand yesterday. Three handwashings and a shower later, I still faintly smell it.
2. Ditto for paste food coloring. My hand is now tattooed brown.
3. Unflavored gelatin smells gross.
4. Sugar syrup is fucking hot. We're talking lava hot. Do not get it on you. Trust me.
5. I'm going to have to half or even quarter the recipe, because if I end up with something really gross, I don't want 70 of them. Though I will pass them off as Dirt or Bogey or some such.
Want the recipe? Buy the book.
