I hate my brain.

So this morning, when the alarm went off, and don't ask me where this came from...I woke up with a seriously cracked-out image in my head.
I don't write crossovers. Let me make that perfectly clear right now. I. Do not. Write. Crossovers. But I may have to draw some of these scenes someday. Or give them to, y'know, someone who can draw.
Anyway.
When I woke up this morning, I had this picture in my head of the bit in X ep. 12, where Kamui gets back to the room they've got Kotori in and finds suddenly_eevil_Fuuma waiting for him.
Except it wasn't Kamui there, and it wasn't suddenly_eevil_Fuuma either.
Where Kamui should have been, there was Claude. And in suddenly_eevil_Fuuma's place was a suddenly_eevil_Dias.
All throughout my morning shower/dress/groom routine and on the ride to work, my brain continued to chug on this, matching Star Ocean characters to X character roles.
Claude-as-Kamui and Dias-as-Fuuma might not fit so well pre-Alternative, but jesus, does it work when Fuuma/Dias goes bad and Kamui/Claude starts being all weepy and screamy and paralyzed by evil_Fuuma/evil_Dias and catching gay from Subaru/? (more on Subaru/? later). The image of Dias stabbing the shinken through Claude's hand, doing the creepy-ass lick-grope-menace thing, and then offing Rena (yeah, Brain cast Rena as Kotori)...man, I can see that.
So on the Ten no Ryuu side, Brain cast Claude as Kamui and Rena as Kotori. Both of which are all well and good, they fit fairly well. Plus, Rena dies! Hooray!
On the Chi no Ryuu side, we had Dias as Fuuma. Which also fit pretty well. And as I write this, I'm getting the image of Dias in that leather coat and those John Lennon sunglasses with his hair tied back, and you know the shinken would give Mr. Big Ass Sword a serious hard-on...ahem.
But Brain wasn't done yet. Ohhhh no.
Now it wanted to start casting everyone else. It first picked Ernest as Yuuto. Okay, cool, Ern does sort of have that Yuuto vibe going. And then Noel as Kusanagi. Um. Well. Noel isn't a big soldier guy, but he does love the earth and the animals and he isn't really looking forward to the shit that's going to hit the fan, all like Kusanagi, so I can see that. I guess.
Brain then went on to cast Precis as Yuzuriha and Chisato as Satsuki...but then did a complete 180 and stuck Precis as Satsuki and Chisato as Yuzuriha. Hoo boy. Okay, personality-wise, that is some bad crack. But Precis is a hell of a lot more likely to have computer_fu than dog_fu, and Chisato does have her Yuzuriha moments.
Karen is a no-brainer: Celine.
And then Brain spat out: Leon = Nataku. Which, if I think about it long enough, I can see. And the whole bit with Nataku hanging around because Fuuma looks like Daddy...jesus, you plug Leon and Dias into those roles, and...eek.
Then it completely pulled Alen = Kakyou out of its proverbial ass. Um. Probably based more on looks than anything. But, if Rena = Kotori, it could make sense.
And then...Brain started toking on the $2 crack.
Brain stumbled a little on Ashton and Opera; it tentatively has Ashton as Arashi, or maybe Subaru (though in the latter case, I can't for the life of me come up with a suitable Sakurazukamori). I'm not sure where Opera is going to go yet--I've pondered her as Sorata, but that bit with Sorata and Arashi hooking up...um. And though Opera/Sorata and Ern/Yuuto would have fun blowing shit up, it just doesn't work.
Or maybe, Ashton = Seiichirou and Opera = Arashi? Or the other way around? Tough call.
But hey! Ashton = Seiichirou, on second thought...okay, the real Seiichirou is rather fond of Karen, yes, but who says !Seiichirou couldn't be a flamingly gay guy that just happens to be a very good friend of !Karen? And Ashton, aside from capital-G Gay and Gyoro-and-Ururun, is normal enough to pull Seiichirou off...
And even worse...the brain is having a serious dilemma on who Bowman gets to be. It has come up with three possibilities.
SCENARIO 1: Bowman = Sorata. Personality-wise, this would be perfect. Especially with Ern as Yuuto. They'd have so much fun blowing shit up. The big problem there: I don't know yet how big a deal CLAMP is going to make of Sorata and Arashi hooking up, which could cause problems no matter who Arashi is here. But dude. Bowman hitting on Ashton 24-7 would be a riot. Hell, even if I made Opera = Arashi, it'd be funny.
SCENARIO 2: Bowman = Seiichirou. Again, on the surface, this one would be perfect. Bowman's got a wife and (as Brain has placed this post-Blue Sphere) a kid, a normal job, and a thing for the Firecaster. But it doesn't sit right with me for some reason.
SCENARIO 3: And here's where the brain put the $2 crack down and started dropping the brown acid...Bowman = Subaru. Yes, at first glance, this one looks like a serious "what the fuck is Sarah smoking and where can I get some!?" call. Mainly because, in the state in which we know and love him, Bowman simply does not have the requisite amount of angst to be a good Subaru.
However.
If someone like, oh, say, Keith were to, oh, I don't know, put his hand through Nineh's heart, that could do it. Which automatically makes Keith = Seishirou. And dude, if you put !Tatsuha_Keith in a black trench coat and sunglasses, he does sort of look like Seishirou. I've also turned Ern = Seishirou over in my head a few times, but Keith just seems to be the right one for the job if one would have Bowman as Subaru. Maybe Keith wanted Bowman all to himself...gah, Brain, stop that. But the concept of Bowman = onmyouji has been with me for some time, and though he's not quite gay, he could give Claude more than enough gay to fit the plot. And later on down the road, Bowman = Sakurazukamori after the eyeball thing goes down. Eeh. Yes, it's horribly OOC for Keith, I know, Keith seemed like a nice guy and all...but then again, so did Seishirou, once upon a time. And the image of Nineh in the shikifuku...mmf.
I briefly pondered Ern = Subaru and Opera = Seishirou or the other way around, but god, the eyeball shit was bad enough with two-eyed folks involved...
Of course, one could make Ern = Seishirou and !Yuki_Keith = Yuuto...naah.
And later, as an afterthought, Brain assigned Filia to Hinoto's role and Iselia-Queen to Kanoe's. Also, as a contingency plan, it's considered Chris for Seiichirou, assuming Bowman is Sorata or Subaru. And Ketil for Daisuke. Jeezus, Brain, you can stop now.
You know, Opera does have the requisite bouncy_yumemi_boobs for Kanoe...no no no no no no no. Ern would have to fuck her once in a while. He'd hate that. Never mind.

And even in the game, from time to time, you can sort of see a sort of Kamui-and-Fuuma thing with Claude and Dias. And let's see. Westa pops out shinken 1.0, Rena goes to live with Regis with Dias being not quite the fine upstanding oniichan Fuuma was, but close, in his own way. Claude's mom snuffs it in a rip-snorting fire a la Touru, telling him to go back to Expel. So maybe Claude could have the requisite amount of surly and cranky and gimme-the-friggin-shinken-so-I-can-get-the-hell-out-of-here. Hell, she could even be Touru, and along comes Tokiko later to explode and pop out shinken 2.0, Rena comes in and has flashbacks to exploding_Westa and freaks out..well, you know where it goes from here.
And now, I am stopping. I swear.
