Dec. 24th, 2002 08:29 amWell, that was an adventure!
Last night, about 9:30ish, the lag monster was roaming on Rupert. I declared that I was going to sew until it passed. There was a thunderstorm raging outside. This will come into play in a moment.
I sat down at the sewing machine and started tracing doll patters. Boy, thought I, that storm's going nuts out there. Hope the power holds up--
*fzt*
"FUCK!!"
As I cannot smoke and sew at the same time, I had no lighter in reach. So I had to pick my way over to the desk, feel around for the lighter, feel around for a candle, and light it to find my way over to the big candles.
I wrapped a couple of presents (and by "wrapped," I mean "rolled them in in tissue and shoved them into gift bags").
I smoked.
I fretted over the pan of fudge in the freezer.
I read The Waste Lands by candlelight.
Finally, I went to bed, bitching and grumbling. The power came on at about six this morning.
Aaaargh.
