If you found Moo's muserant amusing, what I am about to say does not apply to you, muses, musefic, musemansion, or no. I use the term "muse" to describe the characters I write. And I howled at that rant.

If you took offense to it...why? Because it hit a little too close to home, perhaps?

Let's face it, folks, 99% of the museficcage out there is just plain stupid. I'm sorry, but it is. Even my own, on the rare occasions I've written it...especially my own. And even that's okay, but jebus, folks, God made the lj-cut tag for a reason. (and m4d pr0pz to those of you that have the common decency to USE the lj-cut tag to spare the uninterested)

But I shrugged, ignored them, and I continued to read your posts because, in between the museficcage, you had some very intelligent things to say. But there came a point at which I could no longer be bothered with it.

Laguna and Squall getting fer chrissakes married, for example. Two guys getting married? Well, okay, I'll never write it, but if it floats your boat, go ahead. But Jesus on a pogo stick, they are not just blood relatives, they are father and son. I can ignore or shrug off a great many things. Stuff like this? Especially coming as it does from otherwise intelligent people? No.

Yes, you have the right to write whatever you want. So do people who don't care for what you write, unfortunately; this is a fact of life. You don't have to read it, just as we don't have to read your stuff.

A realization:

Children of Jenova sucks.

No, really. I came to this realization the other night, while trying to figure out exactly WHY I have written exactly two paragraphs of chapter 29 in the last two years.

The writing itself is fine. The plot, for what it is (this will come into play in a moment) is fine. The characterization is fine; I have always been rather proud of the way I've written Vincent, Reeve, and Cid. And I'm rather attached to some of the original characters (the new Turks and Vail).

So why does CoJ suck?

It's a fucking Mary Sue.

Don't give me that look, it IS. Look at C.J. Queen Badass. Damn near invincible. Hooks up with a character I happen to be quite fond of. AACK! I cannot believe I wrote this shit. Even more incredible, I cannot believe so many people LIKE this shit.

Anyway, it's history. You heard me. If I can figure out a way to rescue it, and by "rescue it" I mean "take C.J. the fuck out," I'll start over. But as it is, I'm not continuing on it, because the direction it's going, it's going to get even worse and even more idiot-fangirlish than it already is.
